Dairín Marie Barrett Counselling & Psychotherapy

Welcome
Sometimes life can get on top of you or you can feel like you’ve lost your way. You could be experiencing psychological unease or emotional pain. This might be in direct response to an event such as change or loss, or it might be less clear. It could be ongoing stress, anxiety, low mood or relationship troubles or perhaps you feel like things have lost their lustre. This might be a new experience, or maybe it’s been happening for some time now. Counselling and psychotherapy provides a confidential, safe place to explore and make sense of whatever experiences you’re having. Through this process, you can gain relief, build greater self-awareness and empowerment, discover new ways of managing challenges, and support your own growth, wellbeing, connection and contentment with life.

My approach is fundamentally person-centred, humanistic and integrative. Where useful for clients, I draw on other theories and modalities such as Gestalt, CBT and somatic work.
I am qualified to work with adults and adolescents. I hold a degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy from MTU and a certificate in Adolescent Psychotherapy. I also have a degree in Applied Psychology.
Additionally I have over eight years experience working across community and social care organisations, including youth work and autism support.
Some of the areas I provide support with include; anxiety, panic attacks, depression, low mood, stress, grief and loss, self harm, challenges associated with autism, self-esteem and self confidence, trauma, childhood events, relationships, communication, conflict, boundaries and assertiveness.
